Spain is under rising pressure to find a lifeline for its deeply troubled banks. Spain's banks look in need of international rescue, state funding costs are near unaffordable.Politicians in Europe and investors around the world are worried that the recession-hit country can't come up with the money needed to save its banks without bankrupting the government.

I think it might be cheaper to fly. Have you chkeecd the budget airlines' websites listed in one of the earlier posts? If you want to do the rail for the scenery (my parents say it's spectacular), one rail site I know of is Eurail. I believe it's also the biggest rail pass service in Europe. The website should have route and ticket information. If you want to take the train but save money at the same time, it might be good to take the train from italy to germany and from there fly to spain. You'd be surprised how cheap it is to fly within Europe! Good luck!
