Hundreds of Impatient Brotherhood supporters gathered Saturday in Cairo’s Tahrir Square, where protests have been held since mid-week, before officials set a time for announcing the victor, according to multiple wire services.

The June 16-17 runoff vote between Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohammed Morsi and Ahmed Shafiq, the last prime minister under Mubarak, concluded with both sides claiming a narrow victory. Officials attributed the postponement in announcing the results, initially set for Thursday, as due to appeals over local voting irregularities, Reuters reported.
