Muslims hope they will be able to enjoy their favourite meat dishes when they break fast during Ramadan.

With the recent drought in the American Midwest, which has reduced the United States corn crop to its smallest in five years, some are concerned the price of meat may rise.

Housewife Basrulnizam Baharudin, 47, said if the price of meat increases, it would affect many Malaysians, including her family as she has six children.

Bank manager Saliza Abdul Aziz, 38, said she cooks a lot of chicken and other meat dishes for her four kids who love to eat beef curry.
